SMS Consent

Last updated: September 11, 2026

Gen L (by SanStone) sends transactional SMS on behalf of participating businesses. Recipients see the business they contacted. SMS under this program is for inquiry, intake, appointment, and related service updates — not marketing or promotional messages. Consent to receive text messages is optional and is not a condition of purchase. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out. Reply HELP for help. 1. Missed-call IVR consent

When someone calls a participating business and the call is unanswered, Gen L can play that business’s configured missed-call voice / IVR prompt (the business’s own recording or a Gen L default automated voice). The prompt explains that the caller may voluntarily consent to transactional text messages regarding their inquiry, intake, appointments, and related service updates, and that pressing 1 on the phone keypad is the affirmative action to provide that consent.

If the caller presses 1, Gen L records SMS consent (method: IVR keypad) with a timestamp for that lead and participating business, then sends a post-consent SMS that identifies the business, includes the intake link, and includes STOP opt-out language. If the caller does not press 1, Gen L does not record SMS consent and does not send that intake SMS. Consent for this flow is collected by keypad / DTMF during the voice interaction — not by an SMS “reply YES” or “reply 1” mechanism.

Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out. Reply HELP for help.

2. Verbal consent

A lead speaks with an intake representative by phone. The representative asks whether the lead is okay receiving text messages and related information about their inquiry, intake, appointments, and service updates. Example script:

Would you like to receive text messages from [Business Name] regarding your inquiry, intake, appointments, and related service updates? Message frequency varies and message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP at any time to opt out or HELP for help. Consent to receive text messages is optional.

If the lead says yes, the representative manually enters the lead in Gen L’s New Intake form and checks the consent checkbox confirming that the lead gave verbal permission to receive messages. That checkbox is an internal record of the conversation — not a customer-facing opt-in form.

3. Website / intake form consent

A lead voluntarily submits a website or Gen L intake form, provides their mobile number, and checks an optional, unchecked-by-default SMS consent checkbox. The checkbox is separate from any required Terms acceptance. Example wording:

After consent

Messages are transactional / service-related only. They may include an intake link, intake follow-ups if needed, appointment confirmation and reminder texts, and a reschedule link if the person replies R. We do not use this consent for marketing or promotional SMS.

Mobile numbers and SMS consent information are not sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Information may be processed by service providers as needed to operate the platform and deliver requested communications. See our Privacy Policy.
